IN VITRO PRE-MULTIPLICATION

For over 25 years, the IRF has been actively involved in the development of micro-propagation protocols, particularly regarding flower species. The IRF aims to create an initial stock of micro-propagated seedlings for introduction into the industrial flows of the companies and commercial laboratories with which the IRF stipulates specific contracts.

This activity is oriented to both the development of IRF protected varieties and ad hoc protocols in response to specific requests from companies.

Companies are also offered ex vitro plants of listed varieties and species.

Rehabilitation is carried out via meristem extraction, and embryo-rescue techniques are also developed upon request.

Over the past few years, the laboratory has micro-propagated approximately seventy species and varieties, totalling 500 genotypes and a production of approximately 150,000 in vitro and ex vitro plants for industrial development.
